US Airways to join Star Alliance
US AIRWAYS has announced it is joining the Star Alliance in a move that will
expand the worldwide network for its passengers. The carrier will become a
full member on May 4, joining 14 other airlines – including bmi – in the
alliance.
“US Airways will significantly strengthen our network and product offering
especially into and out of the eastern US seaboard and Caribbean,” said Star
Alliance chief executive officer Jaan Albrecht.
“Additionally, experience has shown that US Airways and other member
carriers will see an increase in traffic and revenue as more frequent flyers
take advantage of the vast array of benefits the Star Alliance has to
offer.”
Membership will allow its frequent flyers to accrue and redeem miles on any
Star Alliance carriers.
