US business travelers finding “incredible” hotel deals

Business people who need face-to-face meetings in the US’s recession can find “incredible deals in business hotspots like Chicago, New York City, Boston, Houston and more,” reports Hotels.com.
 

Hotel price have fallen, on average, 14 percent in 2009 from 2008, reports Hotels.com latest 2009 Hotel Price Index (HPI).
 

“Hotels in cities such as Phoenix, Atlanta, San Francisco, and Baltimore are pricing rooms reminiscent of 2004 while offering travelers an incredible deal to enjoy four or five star hotels at three star hotel prices,” the site says.
 

“The substantial price drop in the market offers an incredible deal to business travelers in 2010,” said Scott Booker, vice president, global retail, Hotels.com.
 

“The average price per room per night in Chicago dropped 18 percent from an average of USD$167 per night in 2008 to USD$137 per night in 2009,” said Hotels.com. Boston saw a decline of 14 percent in their room rates while Los Angeles fell 12 percent.
 

The largest drop in the study for North America was New York City. Hotel prices fell 24 percent from USD$262 in 2008 to USD$199 in 2009.
 

Phoenix, a popular city among business travelers, saw the average room rate drop from USD$115 per night to USD$101 in 2009.
