US cruise line files for bankruptcy protection
Fledgling US river cruise operator Haimark has just filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The line, which has just one ship, said it plans to reorganize its finances.
In a statement issued to CruiseIndustryNews, it said it was working with the owners of the MS Saint Laurent to resolve insurance issues stemming from an incident in June on the St Lawrence Seaway which the ship was damaged.
The damage has since been repaired.
In the statement, Haimark said any disruptions to its service will be announced if and when they occur.
It said the reorganisation does not affect the operaton of other Haimark vessels in Asia.
