US officials turn back flight
A Chicago-bound flight from Paris was forced to return to Charles de Gaulle airport after US security officials said the Air France aircraft would be refused permission to land.
The decision came as the US further increased its already tight security following the bombings in London.
An Air France spokesman declined to comment on whether the incident related to one of the passengers.
It is thought however the flight was given the all clear to resume once the list of passengers had been approved by the US.
Since September 11, airlines are duty bound to provide a passenger list to the US.
