US tourism hit with UK, Germany travel warnings
A growing number of European nations are warning their citizens they could be denied entry or even detained despite having valid travel documents.
The UK and Germany have updated their travel advisories.
Citizens from both countries have recently been detained and then sent home.
A Welsh tourist is back in the UK and says she was detained for 19 days and led to her deportation flight in ‘leg chains and handcuffs.’
US Immigration authorities claim she ‘violated the terms and conditions of her admission.’
Three Germans have been detained in recent weeks, including two with US permanent resident status.
One of these, Fabian Schmidt, says he was ‘violently interrogated.’
Also, Finland and Denmark have updated their travel advisories warning transgender travelers to contact the American embassy first, especially those that have changed their gender or have the gender designation X in their passport.
It comes as Canadians are foregoing US vacations and staying at home or taking trips to Mexico.
This is predominantly due to the current trade war between the countries.
