Vacation Club to launch in Bali

Accor Première Vacation Club (APVC) is moving into Asia with the launch of its first club property, Novotel Nusa Dua Resort in Bali.

New memberships will be sold from April 5 – initially to Indonesians, and tourists holidaying in Bali.

“Our growth strategy is focused on Asian markets,” said Marty Kandel, chief executive of APVC.

“After the opening of our first Asian Club apartments in Bali, we anticipate entering the market in Thailand, Indonesia, French Polynesia, Singapore, and India in the short to mid-term, followed by China sometime after the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Kandel said APVC is well placed to succeed in emerging markets such as India and China. “It is our intention to target both the local and expat markets.”

Current APVC members in Australia and New Zealand will have access to Accor managed properties across the Asia Pacific Region. “Indonesia alone boasts 36 Accor Hotels, with eight more under development by 2008,” said Kandel.

In a sector of the tourism industry plagued by shonky operators, Kandel added, “We employ staff with no previous timeshare experience (nor the attendant bad habits) and put them through a rigorous two week training programme at our corporate headquarters on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

“Our Asian sales teams will undergo the same style of rigorous training procedure at the Novotel Nusa Dua, and in Jakarta when the first sales centre opens shortly.”
