Vancouver voted top city in the Americas
While Condé Nast Traveller magazine readers voted Sydney as the No1 city in the world, they have also once again voted Vancouver the “Best City in the Americas” for the third time, beating Buenos Aires, Argentina and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
In New York to accept the award. Tourism Vancouver President and CEO Rick Antonson said, “We are absolutely thrilled to again accept this honour” adding, “Condé Nast Traveler is one of the premier travel publications in North America, and their readers are discerning and well travelled”. ”Winning such a prestigious designation is a great compliment for Vancouver, and furthers the work that we do to raise the profile of our destination.”
The poll divides cities into six specific geographical divisions including the Americas, which covers Canada, Central America and South America, with cities scored on ambience, friendliness, culture and sites, restaurants, lodging, and shopping.
The award is at the top of a long list of accolades that Vancouver has received in recent years.
Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan said, “For Vancouver to be so highly recognized by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller is a fantastic honour,” adding. “Our city’s tourism industry is very important to the economic development of Vancouver and we are committed to making sure that Vancouver retains its status as a favourite destination among travellers.”
