Venezuela issues ultimatum to airlines
Venezuela has issued a stern warning to airlines.
Instituto Nacional de Aeronáutica Civil Venezuela is urging airlines to restart scheduled flights or they will risk losing their landing rights.
The FAA recently issued a NOTAM to airlines warning of the risk of flying in Venezuela airspace due to a ‘military buildup’ and the risk of signal jamming.
The FAA NOTAM specifically focuses on the Maiquetía Flight Information Region.
The FAA cites the ‘worsening security situation and heightened military activity in or around Venezuela’.
International airlines that suspended Venezuela flights include Iberia, Turkish Airlines and Avianca.
