Viking lines up cruises along legendary rivers

In June Viking River Cruises announced a lineup of 2008 cruises and cruisetours along Europe’s legendary rivers. The voyages will provide a deluxe, comfortable way to visit cosmopolitan cities and quaint villages with an emphasis on history and culture.

The 2008 offerings include several selections along Europe’s famous Rhine, Main, Moselle and Danube rivers, which wind their way from the North Sea through the heart of Europe to the Black Sea.

Among the 2008 Viking River Cruise selections on the Rhine, Main, Moselle and Danube are:

  • a fifteen-day Grand European Tour from Amsterdam to Budapest (or reverse) from $2,999 per person;
  • an 8-day; Romantic Danube cruise from Budapest to Nuremberg (or reverse) from $1,499 per person; 
  • an eight-day Rhine Getaway from Amsterdam to Basel (or reverse) from $1,499 per person and a 15-day Switzerland to Belgium cruise from Basel to Antwerp (or reverse) from $2,499 per person; 
  • a 15-day European Adventure from Vienna to Amsterdam (or reverse) from $2,999 per person; 
  •  a 12-day Paris to Prague cruise (or reverse) from $2,399 per person; a 16-day Eastern European Odyssey from Bucharest to Nuremberg (or reverse) from $2,999 per person; 
  • an 8-day Danube Explorer from Vienna to Nuremberg (or reverse) with seasonal Christmas Markets from $1,699 per person; 
  • an eight-day Danube Delight from Vienna to Nuremberg (or reverse) including seasonal Christmas Markets and full day excursion to the Czech Republic, from $1,599 per person and a 10-day Tulips & Windmill cruise roundtrip from Amsterdam with Brussels and Brugge from $1,699 per person.

    Additionally, Viking River Cruises will offer two combinable itineraries in 2008 that highlight the best of France: an eight-day Burgundy & Provence cruise from Chalon to Avignon (or reverse) from $1,799 per person and an eight-day Paris & the Heart of Normandy cruise from Paris to Le Havre (or reverse) from $1,599 per person.

    For those interested in discovering the former East Germany and the Elbe River, a 12-day Berlin to Prague (or reverse) cruise includes two overnights in Berlin and Prague plus an eight-day cruise on the Elbe from Magdeburg to Melnik, from $2,499 per person.

    Low-cost flights and included transfers are also available, plus guided pre-or post-cruise packages in Prague, Paris, Amsterdam, Budapest, Vienna, Lucerne and Helsinki. New packages are also available in Munich, Bucharest and Transylvania.
