Virgin America branded flights to disappear next April
All Virgin America flights will officially end from April 25, 2018.
From that date all will become Alaska Air branded flights.
Passengers will be redirected from the Virgin America website to alaskaair.com.
"The flights will be Alaska flights and will only be available through Alaska channels… or through travel agencies and booking sites," according to an internal memo, reports FlightGlobal.
"Guest who try to book an Airbus flight scheduled for after April 24 through Virgin America’s website or app will be redirected to Alaskaair.com."
"We took an important step closer to completing our merger with Virgin America by combining our flight inventories into one," said Sandy Steeling, Alaska Air’s managing director of process engineering.
The merger of the airlines into a single passenger service system will be complete by the second quarter of 2018, the company said.
Since the acquisition of Virgin America was completed in 2016, Alaska has been phasing out the Virgin name gradually with signage coming down at some airport locations and being replaced by Alaska Air branding.
