Virgin on the brilliant…

Marketing body CIMTIG has singled out Virgin Atlantic as the ‘travel brand of the decade’.

At an awards ceremony in London to praise those in the travel industry with the best marketing campaigns, websites, advertising ideas and moment of viral genius, the institute said the airline was chosen for its “exceptional reputation amongst consumers, for their overall brand strength, distinctive cheeky and fun personality and innovative and reliable product offering”.

The carrier beat off stiff competition from Easyjet, Royal Caribbean International, TripAdvisor and Eurostar.

Other brands taking home a gong included Bmi for its BA Strike campaign and Brittany Ferries for its alternative travel to Spain promotion during the ash cloud.
