Virgin restructuring agent commission
Virgin Atlantic is changing its agent commission structure, and says it is “unlikely” to go to 1%.
A spokeswoman for the airline told TravelMole: “Paul Dickinson, our director of sales and distribution, says the airline is talking to ABTA and the GBTA about reviewing the commission structure.
“He says it is unlikely we would cut commission like British Airways and other airlines.”
She added that any changes would not be implemented until next year, following a lengthy consultation period.
Virgin’s current commission structure offers agents 7% for Economy class bookings, 5% for Premium Economy and 4% for Upper Class, plus a host of special offers which can boost commission further. The spokeswoman added: “These rates have been very popular with the trade.”
