Virgin Voyages pushes restart back to May 2021
Still to launch new cruise line Virgin Voyages is delaying its long awaited debut again.
The Richard Branson-founded cruise line will not sail until at least May 2021 – more than a year after its originally scheduled launch.
Virgin said its first ship Scarlet Lady will sit idle until 9 May, 2021, while delivery of its next ship will be delayed.
"While we recognize that the world is not out of the woods yet, we’re optimistic heading into 2021, and look forward to setting sail very soon," said Tom McAplin, President and CEO of Virgin Voyages.
Virgin said delivery of its second ship the Valiant Lady, will be pushed back from May 2021 to November 2021.
Valiant Lady was originally scheduled to sail the Mediterranean, but it will now be switched to the Caribbean.
"We will continue to innovate our experience offering and work closely with our peers and health officials to keep cruising a safe and healthy way to travel," McAplin added.
