Visa free entry to China for UK, Canada travellers begins
Visa free travel to China is now available for British and Canadian travellers.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced travel without a visa is possible starting today for travellers from both countries.
It is expected to be a gamechanger for long haul outbound tour operators in both countries.
The Prime Ministers of both the UK and Canada sealed trade and tourism agreements with China recently, paving the way for eased entry.
Visa-free travel is valid through 31 December and joins dozens of other countries
The UK’s Office of National Statistics said about 620,000 Brits travelled to China in 2024.
Until now, arranging visas for travel to China has been cumbersome and expensive.
Since 2022, China has gradually eased entry restrictions in an attempt to boost inbound tourism since the pandemic.
China’s pandemic shutdown was longer than almost every major country.
