Visit Britain’s Joss Croft says Joss Croft Britain now recognises the importance of events
Speaking at Destination Britain at Australia’s Port Douglas this week, Joss Croft, Visit Britian’s Head of Business Visits and Events told The Mole that corporate travel products are hot in Britain in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic Games in London, with the country showcasing everything Britain has to offer, determined that the London Olympics is a great tourism success.
He added that business from Australia was strong in the MICE sector and that he was confident that it would be even stronger as 2012 approached.
Joss also said that business travel was highly lucrative for Britain and it was growing year on year, with conference and exhibition attendees spending more than any other international visitors to the UK.
Speaking about the 2012 Olympic Games Joss said that Visit Britain estimated that around 50% of business to the Olympics will come from business travel, with an estimated value in the billions.
He said that Visit Britain provided a platform for the UK industry to access clients through a range of various communication, working within and alongside the industry seeing the strategy and providing the tools for VB’s overseas offices to deliver that strategy as they see fit.
He stressed, “We are not a funding organisation because we do not have the budget and there would no end to the events we would be called upon to support!”
“What we can do is provide letters of support for bids, ambassadors to organise local in country events etc and then of course marketing the event through our local offices.”
“Funding less important but the capability is and we can bring tremendous global leverage.”
“We are not sports event bidders but destination marketers!
