Visit Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World
Now we all know which places have been voted as the seven wonders of the World its lets talk about the one elected wonder which is on the itinerary of Greece and Mediterranean Travel Centre.
Petra is a magnificent trading city, much of it built into the rose red rocks of Southern Jordan by a trading people called the Nabateans some 2,000 years ago.
The classical image of Petra is the Treasury building which is the first place one sees after walking or riding through a narrow chasm called the siq which is the only land access to this hidden ancient city.
However Petra far more than a single building and is a massive city of temples, homes , preserved amphitheatres and public buildings many of which have been built into the rugged and mountainous landscape.
There are temples on the top of high hills and vistors need a minimum of a full day to begin to appreciate the scale of this city and appreciate why it richly deserves to be included as one of the seven wonders of the world.
Petra is a highlight of all Greece and Mediterranean Travel Centre programs in Jordan, it is also combined with GMTCs Israel programs and is an integral part of EGYPT –Jordan combination tours.
GMTC offers a choice of three, four and five star accommodation in Petra within easy reach of the ancient city. For details and bookings call 1300 661 666 or visit: www.greecemedtravel.com
