Vistara airline brand to close down
India full-service carrier Vistara is being shut down.
One year after Tata Group acquired the Air India and Air India Express airline brands, they are the only two out of the four airlines to survive.
Tata already had majority stakes in AirAsia India and Vistara.
It will now eliminate the brand.
CEO Campbell Wilson said the decision was made to continue only with the two Air India brands as they have the strongest brand recognition globally.
The full-service carrier will be integrated into Air India while LCC AirAsia India becomes part of Air India Express.
The latter should be complete in the next few months, Wilson said.
The integration of Vistara is still subject to approval from Competition Commission of India
