Vodafone to help save Greek tourism
Greek tourist chiefs have joined with Vodafone to help promote the destination.
They have introduced ‘Vodafone Explore Greece’, a free smartphone application geared to promote Greece as a destination to millions of Vodafone users worldwide.
"The application enables us to talk about Greece; to highlight our country’s unique natural beauty, our culture and high level of services available," said Glafkos Persianis, CEO of Vodafone Greece at a press conference.
"Through our technology and international presence, we are contributing to the efforts underway to furthering the development of our country."
The move comes days after the Greek National Tourist Office launched an initiative, TrueGreece.org, designed to encourage holidaymakers to help promote the country.
Tour operators, agents, airlines and hotels are being asked to provide freebies so that over 1000 people can go on holiday to Greece later this year to tweet, blog and write about their experiences (see previous story).
