Voluntourism initiative launched in Grenada
The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) has launched a new Voluntourism program, offering visitors a chance to engage with the local community.
The program includes a variety of rewarding volunteer activities within multiple sectors including agriculture, environment, education, and health.
Opportunities are available year-round and accessible for all types of travellers.
Petra Roach, CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, said: “We’re really excited to launch our Voluntourism program. This carefully curated range of activities give travellers the opportunity to connect with our people and have a truly memorable stay.”
“The goal is to reach visitors through initiatives that enhance engagement with the community, leave a positive footprint on the islands, and provide greater knowledge of what makes Grenada unique.”
Voluntourism initiatives available in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique include helping farm the crops and tending the horses in Myristic Mountain, the Grand Anse Artificial Reef Project and giving swimming lessons to local children and adults.
