Walt Disney World moving to date-based pricing
Florida’s Walt Disney World is moving to a date-based pricing model for park tickets starting next month.
From October 16, 2018, prices will be based on the date of visit, which are set in advance based on Disney’s expected demand for a particular day.
It will impact both single and multi-day theme park tickets.
It is a further tweak to a more demand-based pricing model after Disney introduced three price tiers a few years ago for single-day tickets based on the season.
Once the prices are set for a given day, they will not fluctuate like airline pricing policy, which is based on fluid real time demand.
"This approach to pricing tickets by date is modeled off of consumer demand and is part of our effort to better distribute attendance throughout the year to improve the Guest experience," Disney said.
It is the first time Walt Disney World has adopted a date-based pricing model based on perceived daily demand.
One-day tickets will be valid for admission on the specific date originally booked and multi-day passes are valid from the date chosen at the time of booking and must be used within a limited time period, depending on the type of multi-day pass.
