Warning to self-drive holidaymakers heading to Paris
Drivers heading to or from France are being warned that they won’t be allowed to enter Paris today and tomorrow unless their vehicle has a badge that gives them access to the city’s low emission zone.
The sudden ban on cars without a ‘vignette’ or with Crit’Air badges 4 and 5, which are the higher polluting vehicles, was introduced without warning due to high high ozone levels in the capital.
For this reason, the environmental zone has now been activated and currently only petrol engines registered from 1997 and diesel passenger cars registered from 2006 may enter Paris.
Details can be found on www.green-zones.eu and in the free Green Zones app.
Drivers who ignore the ban could be fined up to €375.
During the spike in air pollution, there is a discounted day ticket for local public transport of €3.80.
