Washington DC mandates vaccine proof at restaurants, venues
Washington DC is the latest metro area to mandate vaccination proof to access many indoor public venues.
Mayor Muriel Bowser announced new rules for entry in many public facilities including fitness centers, restaurants, culture and entertainment venues, and for meetings and events.
It doesn’t apply to museums.
New rules become effective on January 15, 2022.
Visitors 12 years and older must show proof of at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine to enter most indoor public facilities.
From February 15, a full two-dose vaccination is required for entry.
Washington D. already has a mandatory mask requirement for indoor establishments.
Responding to criticism from the restaurant industry, Bowser said: "We all have a responsibility to keep our community safe, and we all have to respond to this virus as it presents. And it is true, that we’re asking our businesses to do more, but we also think that this is a benefit to their business," she said.
