Wealthy customers favour travel websites
Travel is the most popular purchase for wealthy customers in the US, new research has confirmed.
The Jupiter report, called the Mass Affluent Population Online, examined the online buying habits of households with a yearly income of $75,000 or more. It found that 59% of people in this segment bought travel online, compared to 45% of people in the $45-$75,000 dollar segment and just 35% where the household earnings were under $45,000.
According to Jupiter’s research the ten most popular websites for this income group include five travel sites – marriottrewards.com, usairways.com, alaskaair.com, sheraton.com and avis.com.
The research firm says that this is because this is the group that travels the most and has the greatest disposable income. It also points out that higher income groups are more comfortable with technology, leading to greater online spending.
