We’re getting there, says American Airlines CEO
American Airlines CEO Tom Horton told AP this week that although the airline has gone through a rough patch its “operational performance is improving.”
In a statement that sounded more like a partner in a rocky marriage than an airline in bankruptcy protection, Horton said: “We’ll get past this just like other airlines before us have.”
AA has endured more than a month of unofficial pilot sick-outs, maintenance issues including seats coming unbolted in flight on several craft and delays so frequent experts are telling flyers to avoid the airline entirely.
Horton acknowledged that “for a couple of weeks there, it was very difficult on customers”.
He acknowledged that that AA was not yet up to speed but said that it had significantly improved.
