West Ham’s new manager mugged at gunpoint in Chile
West Ham United’s new manager Manuel Pellegrini has thanked police after he and his wife were targeted by robbers in Santiago, Chile.
Pellegrini, 64, and his wife were on their way to a restaurant in the city with friends when the incident happened.
His wife had her handbag stolen by the attackers, who shot at police before driving away in a stolen Porsche, according to the BBC.
Pellegrini, who is from Chile, thanked the police for their ‘quick and courageous’ response, while the football club said it was relieved no-one was harmed.
