What’s the worst thing about airline food?

Tuesday, 29 Apr, 2013 0

If a turkey-and-cheese sandwich is not your idea of "dinner," you are not alone.

The number-one complaint about airline food, in fact, is the lack of a free hot meal on flights of more than four hours.

A newly released survey from YouGov.com polled airline passengers for their pet peeves during the month of March. Almost half (42%) just want something hot to eat.

More options and lower prices each got a vote from about one in three travelers (37% and 31%, respectively).

Only a fourth (24%) complained about the quality of the food. Twenty percent said the portions are too small while 15% said they are too unhealthy.

It all adds up to only 7% of travelers who buy their food from the airline when they fly. Fifteen percent come prepared, bringing their food with them to the airport, and 16% buy something to eat at the airport.

Delta and JetBlue have the best snacks, by the way, the respondents said. Perhaps the answer is to skip the entrees and just eat hummus and chips.
