Whirling dervishes part of new Turkey tour

Whirling dervishes? Handspun rugs? Sweet baklava? Friendly Planet Travel offers all of those in hits 14-day Best of Turkey tour.
 

The price is a surprisingly low US$1,599.
 

“Travelers will visit the country known as the crossroads of Asia and Europe, where scores of empires, dynasties, and civilizations have risen and fallen for over 10 centuries,” the tour company says.
 

The deal includes round trip, nonstop flights from New York (JFK) via Turkish Airlines.
 

"Turkey’s location makes it a land bridge between Europe and Asia, blending the east and west for centuries," said Peggy Goldman, President of Friendly Planet Travel.
 

The tour begins in Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city. The Grand Bazaar here, built in 1461, is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world.
 

Founded in 1981, Friendly Planet Travel offers more than 30 different group travel packages to Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and South America-at discounts of hundreds of dollars off similar vacations, according to the company.
