Wi-Fi access at BAA airports
The telecoms company T-Mobile has done a deal with the airports operator BAA to provide wireless internet access at Heathrow, Gatwick and Glasgow airports, allowing travellers broadband access in the airports’ departure lounges.
The Times today reports that casual users will pay £1.50 for 15 minutes’ access, with a £5 for an hour, £10 for three hours and £16.50 for a day.
A spokesman for T-Mobile is quoted by the newspaper as saying that travellers would find access “as fast, if not faster, than in their offices”.
The Times reports that the company already has “hotspots” in American Airlines and United Airlines lounges across the United States, as well as in 11 European airports.
The company said it is still looking to develop new partnerships with organisations in travel hubs, and wants to establish hotspots “anywhere that people go”.
