Wildwind bucks trend in Greek market
Greece sailing holidays specialist, Wildwind Holidays, claims it has managed to buck the downward bookings trend in the Greek market this year.
Reporting an 8% increase in bookings year-on-year, the company said it has managed to ride out what should have been a tough year.
“On the whole business has been surprisingly good for us here on Lefkas,” said managing director Simon Morgan.
“Bookings always tend to be slower in a World Cup year, but combined with uncertainty about the economic future, both in Greece and the UK, a national strike, civil unrest in the capital, the volcanic ash cloud and a general election in the UK (along with an emergency budget), we were prepared for the worst.
“But thankfully we priced ourselves very competitively and have actually been able to record an 8% increase in bookings.”
He said bookings were also helped by the launch of its Active Adventures holiday programme, which allows parents and children, aged 10 to 17, the opportunity to try a multitude of sports over their week long holiday.
Wildwind Holidays’ sister company Healthy Options, the wellbeing holiday experts, also reported a 5% rise in year-on-year bookings.
