Wimbledon star Andy Murray’s hotel causes controversy
Tennis champ Andy Murray’s new luxury hotel venture has run into controversy after families living next to the Victorian mansion he bought last year claimed they are being forced out of their homes to make way for living quarters for his staff.
The owners of the four cottages, close to the five-star Cromlix House near Murray’s home town Dunblane in Scotland, have given the tenants notice to leave, said the Daily Mail.
The landlords are Henry and Edward Eden, previous owners of the hotel, who pointed out that the tenants were on short-term leases, renewed every month.
But the tenants are now appealing to Murray and the management group which will run Cromlix House to let them stay.
A spokesman for hotel management company ICMI said the cottages were needed for specialist staff brought in from elsewhere who could not reach the site by public transport.
