WIN a holiday home in Spain
MALLORCA –A Mediterranean boutique hotel company is unloading 10 vacation homes in Spain in an innovative property raffle.
George Scott, CEO of the US and Spanish companies behind the offer, said people who take part have no risk because they get their money back, and the company gets its price for the 10 houses and studio suites (in Mallorca) and saves the money it would otherwise spend on promotion and travel agents’ fees.
Said Scott, “Every so often something that sounds too good to be true turns out in fact to be true. That’s the situation here.
“Anyone who comes to our hotels takes part in the raffle free (and might win a house worth US$675,000) and even people who can’t come to our hotels can still take part and then get their money back after the raffle is over, win or lose.”
The offer started a few months ago in Spain and news spread by word of mouth. Then bootleg copies of the website began to turn up in Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden and a few other countries, translated into a variety of languages.
The company has so far managed to put up legally approved versions of its site in six languages.
Applications to take part have been flooding into the hotel from 23 countries to date, with the word spreading farther afield all the time.
Full information on the project, including all the fine print and extensive photos, showing the views from the private terraces of the prizes — a long sweep over a medieval hamlet and down a green valley to the sea — may be seen at http://www.winaholidayhomeinspain.com, or in shorter form at http://myhideawayinspain.com.
Scott Properties, the holding company for the Spanish enterprises, has been operating from Delaware in the United States since 1987.
Scott’s Townhouse Hotel, their flagship hotel, is listed in a New York guidebook as among the world’s 50 best small hotels. Scott’s Galilea, the mountain complex, is rated No. 9 among 943 hotels on the island of Mallorca.
The company behind the promotion says the 10 holiday homes will be raffled in 10 draws. Each voucher has unique number on it. Only 33,333 of them will be issued. A voucher for all 10 draws costs 150 euros.
Scott added, “You invest in a voucher and then wait until the drawings take place.
“If you’ve won, you can choose to keep and enjoy your new home, or sell it for cash, or rent it for up to 40,000 euros per season.
“If you haven’t won, you can sell your voucher to get your money back.
“It’s worth its face value for five years, redeemable in our hotels. You could sell it on eBay or Craigslist. And 12 million visitors come here every year, many of them to our hotels, so selling it would be easy.”
The first of the 10 draws will tqake place on August 1.
