Winter has arrived, it’s time to ski
Winter has finally arrived in the Alps with France, Italy, Austria and Swiss ski resorts all benefiting from fresh dumps of snow since the turn of the year.
With more snow forecast every day for the next week or so, selling last minute ski holidays to the Alps just got an awful lot easier!
Resorts likely to be the main beneficiaries of the latest snowfalls include those in the northern French Alps, such as the Three Valleys including Meribel, the Portes du Soleil including Avoriaz, and those in the Chamonix Valley, and also in the western Swiss Alps, including Verbier and Crans-Montana.
The Pyrenees and Dolomites resorts are also looking in better shape following recent snowfalls.
Good news for those planning a last minute break is that tour operators have plenty of offers for January.
Ski Independence has seven nights in an apartment in Avoriaz, in the Portes du Soleil ski area of France, from £214 per person including Eurotunnel crossings, departing on January 30, or four nights half-board in a five-star hotel in La Clusaz, also in France, from £1,045 per person, departing on January 18.
None of the resorts in Scandinavia has managed to fully open so far this season, but with further snow forecast from Friday, conditions are set to improve. Are in Sweden has the best skiing at the moment and Ski Safari is offering its guests a free three-day lift pass for mini-breaks booked before January 13.
