Wizz Air extends Middle East flight suspension
Budget carrier Wizz Air is extending its pause on most flights to the Middle East, and revised down its profit guidance.
It expects to take a hit of about €50 million due to the crisis in the Middle East.
The airline won’t resume most flights to the region until the middle of March at least.
It flies to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Amman and when they do resume, they will likely be less frequent to reflect reduced demand.
However, Wizz Air expects to restart Saudi Arabia flights this weekend.
“We are closely monitoring developments and remain in ongoing contact with local and international authorities, aviation safety agencies, security authorities, and relevant governmental bodies,” the airline said.
”Operational decisions will continue to be reviewed, and the flight schedule may be adjusted.”
The airline’s profit guidance and expected losses also takes into account the price uncertainty of jet fuel.
