Women lead the way with ‘green’ holidays, says responsibletravel.com
Women accounted for over two thirds of holidays booked via responsibletravel.com throughout 2007.
Figures released by the website this week, in the run-up to International Women’s Day on March 8, showed 67% of holidays were booked by women.
“It’s long been recognised that women wear the trousers when it comes to holiday decisions but this shows a real concern to choose ethical travel over mass tourism,†said Justin Francis, co-founder of responsibletravel.com.
“All consumers should be encouraged to ask plenty of questions of their holiday provider when booking a holiday.”
He said the figures also highlighted a growing confidence among women to venture solo or join a small group of similarly minded travellers as 37% of women booked to travel alone.
