Worldchoice forms technology panel

Saturday, 28 Feb, 2006 0

Agency consortium Worldchoice has created a technology panel to act as a testbed for future technology initiatives as well as enhancements to existing systems.

The panel consists of 15 agent members who have been chosen for their geographical spread as well as the cross-section of sectors their businesses cover.

The selected panel of agents are also already well known for giving feedback to Worldchoice’s head-office.

IT director John Lawrence (Deeping Travel) said: “Previously we would have tested new technology thoroughly at head office before making it available to members. We will still do this, but by involving members at an even earlier stage, we will get invaluable feedback from the coalface as to how effective and efficient the technology is. We will also be able to iron out any glitches sooner.”

Worldchoice is also putting together a list of suppliers whose technology has fulfilled certain criteria based on members’ requirements.

The criteria is being finalised but will include elements on pricing and the amount of helpdesk support members can expect.

Worldchoice is hoping to make the list available to members around the time of the Triton conference in May.

Lawrence said: “With so much technology available, and developments happening at such a fast speed, having a list of endorsed suppliers will not only speed up the decision-making process but also help protect members from purchasing equipment from suppliers who will not provide sufficient technical back-up when required.”
