World’s first Hasbro-themed water park coming to Malaysia
Malaysia is getting the world’s first Hasbro-branded water park.
An agreement between M101 Group and Meridian Bhd will see a 20-acre water park developed at the Malaysia Tourism City (MTC) resort area in Kuala Linggi, Melaka.
Due to open in 2022 it will feature rides based on Hasbro licensed characters including My Little Pony, Nerf and GI Joe.
MTC is a master planned 622-acre integrated tourism project.
"The water park will be developed over 20 acres. It will offer a wide range of branded new rides that are not available in any parts of the world," said M101 Group owner Seth Yap Ting Hau.
M101 Group has also partnered with Hasbro to open the world’s first Monopoly-themed hotel at M101 Bukit Bintang.
Historic Melaka receives about 1.5 million overnight visitors a year.
"With MTC we target to increase tourist arrivals by 2 million, and an additional 1.5 million overnight stay tourists in Melaka thereby creating a multiplier effect on tourist receipt of up to an additional RM5 billion per annum," Yap said.
MTC will also have a weekend market, a themed adventure park and an eco-tourism park.
