Worldspan wins Quest GDS business from Amadeus
Australia and New Zealand specialist travel agency Quest has switched away from Amadeus to use the Worldspan GDS system.
Under the new agreement, Worldspan will provide its Worldspan for WindowsSM solution in Quest offices in York, Swansea and its headquarters in Kingston, Surrey. Quest will use Worldspan for Windows to provide enhanced GDS functionality, including improved access via Worldspan’s Power Products to flight booking, car rental and hotel booking data for its tour operator services.
Commenting on the switch to Worldspan, Dave Simmons, Managing Director of Quest said: “We, like many other travel agencies, face great pressures on our business which generates six figures-worth of segments annually. We reviewed our GDS arrangements with a view to improving the already high service standards we deliver to our customers. With Worldspan’s product, superior support and customer service record, we saw this goal was achievable.”
Tim Wright, Worldspan staff vice president for business development in Europe, Middle East and Africa said: “This significant GDS switch reflects Worldspan’s highly focused sales and marketing efforts in the UK to persuade traditional and e-commerce travel agencies to take on or switch to our GDS services. Naturally, we’re delighted to win this contract. Enhanced functionality, performance and service are Worldspan attributes that can help astute agencies like Quest to make the most of a challenging business environment.”
Worldspan for Windows will be rolled out in Quest locations by the end of July.
Established in 1988, Quest Travel is an independent operator specialising in holidays to Australia and New Zealand, with additional products to Asia, America, Canada, Africa and South America. With offices in Kingston, York and Swansea, Quest Travel employs 70 staff with approximately 30,000 customers per year.
