WTM 2003. How was it for you?
Most exhibitors quizzed by TravelMole on the last day of this year’s World Travel Market were reasonably pleased with this year’s event, and broadly agreed that the move to ExCel has proved to be the right decision. Michel van der Hoeven, regional director of Sanctuary Resorts told TravelMole: “It’s been really good, much better than last year. I think it’s a much better venue and easier to navigate.” On the Belize stand, consultant Neil Rogers who was promoting the group of eight Rainforest & Reef Resorts hotels told TravelMole that he much preferred ExCel to Earls Court. He said: “It’s not as hot and crowded. There’s more space. It’s much better. The transport is an issue with all the foreign visitors complaining about it, but that’s a problem with London generally.Every day there’s one delay or another.” But not all exhibitors were so happy. Gabriela Kanzig from the Bern tourism office said: “Last year was better, it was busier and we had more interest on the Monday and Tuesday.” However she also preferred ExCel as a venue, pointing out that it offered more “space” and “possibilities” for exhibitors.
