YOTEL shakes up management team
YOTEL has appointed Jason Hsiang as senior vice president of development for North America.
Based in New York, he will lead the acquisitions and development team responsible for sourcing, negotiating and closing joint venture agreements, acquisitions, and long-term management agreements across all of the group’s brands.
He joins from Thor Equities where most recently he held the position of SVP of hospitality.
"It is an exciting time for YOTEL as we expand at an unprecedented rate across the globe and Jason’s appointment will strengthen our development efforts in North America," said CEO Hubert Viriot.
"With an excellent team in place and working closely with our existing partners, we’re looking forward to maximising all our opportunities with a specific focus on key gateway cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Houston, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal,"
Meanwhile, Rohan Thakkar will be promoted to lead the development team for Europe and the Middle East based in London and Nikhil Manchharam’s responsibilities will be expanded to include the Pacific region alongside Asia, based in Singapore.
"YOTEL’s portfolio has grown tremendously over the past few years across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. This led us to establish specific development strategies based on regional trends and strong relationships with the local investment communities," added Viriot.
"It was therefore only natural to organise our development team accordingly and have regional heads focused on our core market areas. Rohan and Nikhil have done a tremendous job growing the company since joining YOTEL and therefore I congratulate them for their expanded roles."
YOTEL set a target of having 60 hotels open or in development by 2023 and earlier this month announced five deals in the US, Europe and Middle East under its new extended stay brand YOTELPAD.
