Your survival guide to the London Olympics
If you have clients arriving in London during the 2012 Olympics, the train operator Greater Anglia has published a range of timetable booklets for the Games which are now available from staffed stations and on the website.
There are details of extra late evening and additional weekend services that will be operating and connecting to Stratford, the station nearest the Olympic Stadium in East London.
Possibly the quickest route to Stratford, according to those in the know, is the unheralded Southend Airport line which takes you from Liverpool Street to Stratford in just over six minutes.
The train is a good bet given that road restrictions are now in place for the duration of the Olympic Games.
Drivers or cyclists caught straying into the marked Games Lanes across London could receive a fine.
And if you must be in London on business during the Games, Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has released an Olympic Games survival guide for business travellers.
Most of the info is pretty much common sense, although it suggests moving business meetings out of London to places such as Weymouth, Glasgow and Manchester, where Olympic events are taking place, but where crowds will be fewer and hotel rooms – hopefully – less expensive.
