    The one-year countdown to the launch of MSC Cruises’ latest flagship, MSC World Asia, has begun. The state-of-the-art flagship is set to become the latest World Class ship to join the cruise line’s fleet, inviting guests to experience the Art of Cruising beginning December 2026.   Setting sail to some of the Mediterranean’s most sought-after destinations from 4 December 2026, the ship will feature subtle design elements that reflect Asia’s rich culture, art and landscapes and will offer returning guest favourites alongside new concepts that will deliver unforgettable onboard experiences.   Antonio Paradiso, VP of International Sales at MSC Cruises said: “As we mark the 12-month countdown to MSC World Asia, we’re thrilled to offer our UK and Irish guests a truly unique new way to experience the Mediterranean. MSC World Asia will further strengthen our commitment to delivering memorable holidays at sea and broaden the range of experiences available to our guests across the UK and Ireland.”   With just 12 months to go until the ship’s launch, MSC Cruises is sharing 12 highlights about the flagship, and the exciting amenities, world-class dining and spectacular entertainment that await guests on board.  

  1. NEW! Dragon Sculpture: A striking stainless-steel dragon suspended from the ceiling 10 metres above the World Promenade will captivate guests. The 12-metre-long and nine-metre-wide sculpture adorned with nearly 700 mirrors and 3,000 LED lights will also illuminate in the evening on board MSC World Asia.
  2. Breathtaking Mediterranean Itineraries: MSC World Asia will sail in the Mediterranean, calling at some of the region’s most captivating destinations. Starting 4 December 2026, the ship will sail seven-night itineraries to Barcelona (Spain), Marseille (France), Genoa, Civitavecchia for Rome, Messina (Italy) and Valletta (Malta) during the Winter 2026/27 season, and will offer seven-night itineraries to Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Naples (Italy), Messina and Valletta during the Summer 2027 season.

The Spiral @ Tree of Life: Set to be the longest dry slide at sea at 81.3 metres, this eye-catching, signature architectural feature of MSC Cruises’ World Class ships offers a thrilling ride that lets guests slide between 12 decks in seconds. The new design will be inspired by trees in Singapore’s famous Gardens by the Bay, tying into the ship’s Asia-inspired elements.

    MSC Cruises and Chantiers de l’Atlantique today announced a major extension of their long-standing relationship with orders for two additional World Class ships – numbers 7 and 8 – due to be delivered in 2030 and 2031.   The announcement was made at a double celebration event to mark important maritime milestones for two other World Class ships currently under construction at Chantiers de l’Atlantique’s shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France, the float out of MSC World Asia and coin ceremony of MSC World Atlantic.   Valued at €3.5 billion, the orders announced today bring MSC Cruises’ total investment in the four ships ordered in France this year to nearly €7 billion. Together with the World Class vessels already under construction, this brings the company’s total direct investment currently committed in France to €10.5 billion. This major industrial plan reflects the shipowner’s confidence in the future of cruise tourism and its ongoing commitment to shipbuilding excellence in France and across Europe.   Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman, Cruise Division, MSC Group, said, “We mark a proud moment today for MSC Cruises and Chantiers de l’Atlantique as we celebrate important milestones for our future - the float out of MSC World Asia, the coin ceremony of MSC World Atlantic and the order of two new ships. MSC World Asia will be delivered in November 2026 ready to sail in the Mediterranean and from December will offer seven-night sailings to the most popular destinations in the Western Mediterranean – Barcelona (Spain), Marseille (France), Genoa, Civitavecchia for Rome, Messina (Italy) and Valletta (Malta)   MSC World Atlantic coin ceremony - A traditional coin ceremony for MSC World Atlantic also took place today, when the vessel’s godmothers from both the cruise line and the shipyard placed commemorative coins inside the ship as a sign of blessing during construction and to bring good fortune to the vessel. MSC World Atlantic will enter service in 2027 and will be deployed in the Caribbean Sea from Port Canaveral, U.S, for winter 2027-28.   MSC Cruises’ godmother was Lynn Torrent, Lynn is the President of MSC Cruises North America, overseeing all commercial and operational functions across the region. A seasoned cruise industry executive, she is instrumental in advancing MSC Cruises’ strategic growth across the North American market.   From Chantiers de L’Atlantique, the Godmother was Agnès Sahores, Smart Yard Improvement Manager, who has been working at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique for 25 years. She oversees implementing the company’s improvement plan, which focuses on industrial performance, innovation, environmental efficiency, and collective success.

  Major Refurbishment Of MSC Magnifica Begins In Malta Shipyard - News & announcements

  • The ship is one of two Musica Class ships receiving major enhancements at the Maltese shipyard and to have the MSC Yacht Club installed plus other venues enhanced 
  • The other ship, MSC Poesia, is scheduled to enter dry dock in February and be completed in time for its MSC Yacht Club debut in Alaska in May 2026

    Work has begun on the upgrade of MSC Cruises’ MSC Magnifica, marking the start of an extensive enhancement programme that underscores the cruise line’s ongoing investment in enhancing the guest experience across its fleet.   MSC Magnifica has been in service since 2010 and is the first of two Musica Class ships due to enter dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Malta for such an upgrade.   The ship will receive the MSC Yacht Club with 63 new suites, two new specialty dining venues — Butcher’s Cut and Kaito Sushi Bar - along with an enhanced MSC Aurea Spa and Technogym® Fitness Centre complete with Gentleman’s Barber, different workout studios and outdoor Aurea area.   The work is expected to be completed in December, with the full MSC Yacht Club experience available in Summer 2026 when MSC Magnifica sails Northern Europe itineraries.   MSC Cruises’ CEO Gianni Onorato said: “These upgrades highlight our commitment to offering guests the best possible experience and facilities across our fleet. By introducing our MSC Yacht Club to these ships - along with new restaurants, gyms, and wellness spaces - we are giving guests more exclusivity and choice than ever before. The MSC Yacht Club is one of our most highly regarded products, known for its exceptional service, elegant spaces, and exclusive amenities and we are proud to bring this experience to MSC Magnifica and MSC Poesia – in time for our first Alaska season and the 2027 MSC World Cruise.”   Sister ship MSC Poesia will then enter dry dock at the same shipyard in February 2026 to receive her upgrades, which include the MSC Yacht Club with 69 suites and an  All-Stars Sports Bar, plus the same specialty restaurants and gym and spa upgrades coming to MSC Magnifica, ready to rejoin the fleet in time for her Alaska debut in May 2026.   These enhancements align with MSC Cruises' commitment to enhancing guest experiences across its fleet, ensuring that both MSC Magnifica and MSC Poesia continue to offer modern amenities and high-quality services to its guests. They represent the most extensive upgrade and refitting projects undertaken by the cruise line in the last decade, fully designed and managed in-house by MSC Cruises’ Technical Department.   Palumbo Malta Shipyard is a strategic hub for MSC Cruises’ fleet maintenance and high-quality refurbishing projects for ships in Europe.   MSC Magnifica will set sail from Warnemünde, Germany on 16 May 2026 to Northern Europe, visiting Denmark, the Baltics, Scandinavia and Finland, before offering 3-to 8-night Mediterranean departures later in the year to ports including Barcelona, Civitavecchia for Rome and Marseille.   MSC Cruises has teamed up with Virgin Atlantic for its first Alaska fly-cruise packages aimed at UK cruisers. MSC has developed a pre-cruise stay of two nights at the Courtyard Seattle Downtown by Marriott or similar property , along with flights from London Heathrow to Seattle. The package also includes a Seattle CityPASS to explore the city. MSC Poesia sails from Seattle to Alaska next summer from May to September 2026.     MSC Group’s Cruise Division today published its 2024 Sustainability Report reaffirming its commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050, accompanied by an independently verified Energy Transition Plan (ETP) to clearly show how it is working to achieve this ambition.   The report, now in its sixth edition, highlights milestones in environmental innovation, responsible tourism, and social impact. It reflects MSC Group’s Cruise Division’s integrated approach to sustainability for its MSC Cruises’ and Explora Journeys’ brands.   Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman, MSC Group’s Cruise Division, said: “As a family business, we do not operate ships just for tomorrow. We sail them for future generations, designed for fuel flexibility, guided by innovation, and powered by people who share our long-term vision.   “The Cruise Division in 2024 reaffirmed its commitment to advancing a bold and transparent sustainability strategy that balances environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic resilience.”   Report highlights include:  

  • Launching of the Energy Transition Plan for the fleets of MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys, outlining interim absolute emissions reduction targets. This is a published roadmap to achieving net-zero GHG emissions from marine operations by 2050.
  • Avoiding 50,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions through fleet-wide optimisation tools (OptiCruise and Oceanly Performance) which support real-time operational efficiency and itinerary planning.
  • An increase in shore power connections from 44 in 2023 to 142 in 2024, across 13 ports. All new ships since 2017 are shore-power ready with retrofitting continuing across the fleet, and the Cruise Division remains committed to using shore power wherever it's available.
  • An increase in crew retention rate to 89%, up from 83% in 2023, demonstrating the commitment of the Cruise Division to employee engagement and development.
  • The formation of a Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Committee, underlining a strong commitment to workforce equity across over 140 nationalities.
  • Continued investment in destinations like Ocean Cay, where environmental stewardship has enabled marine wildlife to thrive and coral restoration is underway.
  • Whale strike prevention training for 469 key crew members in conjunction with marine protection charity ORCA to understand more about the species of whale at risk, how to identify them, and take steps to reduce the risk.
  • More than 4,500 shore excursions offered in 84 countries, including 284 “Protectours”, low-impact experiences.

    The report also shows that in 2024 the fleets of MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys together carried 4.6 million guests and sailed to 341 itineraries in 90 countries.   Looking Ahead   As MSC Group’s Cruise Division looks to the future, it remains focused on scaling clean energy solutions, retrofitting existing ships, advocating for port infrastructure investments, and collaborating across the maritime sector to accelerate the global energy transition.   “There is no single solution to decarbonisation.     MSC Cruises is making a spectacular splash in cinemas worldwide today with the release of the much-anticipated racing drama F1® THE MOVIE, starring Brad Pittand Damson Idris as drivers on a fictional Formula 1® team.   The cruise line has partnered with the Formula 1® racing feature from Apple Original Films, director/producer/co-writer Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer with its branding and logo appearing throughout the film.   In the hugely anticipated upcoming film, Pitt leads a star-studded cast as a former driver making a comeback, with the fictional APXGP team featuring MSC Cruises branding—on race cars, team uniforms, drivers’ overalls—making the cruise line an unmistakable part of the movie’s high-speed story.   The film was also shot during real Formula 1® Grand Prix race weekends over the past seasons, and so also includes MSC Cruises distinct racetrack branding—the result of the line’s global partnership with Formula 1® since 2022.   “This film captures the same spirit that drives our people on board and ashore every day: world-class performance, precision, and teamwork,” said Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of the Cruise Division, MSC Group.   “Formula 1® and MSC Cruises are both built on innovation and a relentless pursuit of excellence—on land and at sea.
