Rather than settling on buzzy hubs, visitors can land on lively islands and then glide across the Aegean to discover serene sister isles. Why it works: It’s the kind of travel that makes perfect sense, both for ease and for experience. By flying direct into popular Greek islands, travellers skip the stress of complex connections and can be on the beach within hours. But rather than staying put, the real magic lies in hopping a short ferry to somewhere quieter, more authentic, and far less travelled. These lesser-known islands offer the Greece many dream of with sleepy harbours, hidden coves, traditional tavernas, and a gentle pace of life. With lower prices on everything from accommodation to dining, they deliver great value without sacrificing charm. Olympic Holidays wraps it all into one seamless package, flights, ferries, transfers and hand-picked hotels, making the dream of island-hopping both accessible and effortless. Fly into Skiathos, ferry out to serene Alonnisos Begin your Greek island escape with the lively charm of Skiathos, where pine-cloaked hills meet powder-soft beaches like Koukounaries and evenings buzz with energy from waterfront bars and tavernas. But for those craving a slower pace, a short ferry ride of about an hour, whisks you to the peaceful island of Alonnisos. Part of a protected marine park, this lesser-known gem is home to turquoise waters, hidden sea caves and even the elusive Mediterranean monk seal. The port town of Patitiri and the hilltop village of Chora invite you to unwind with long, lazy lunches and coastal walks. Perfect for secluded swims, snorkelling, and reconnecting with nature, Alonnisos is a tranquil counterpoint to Skiathos’s vibrancy. Prices: Olympic Holidays offer 10 nights (5 nights Skiathos/5 nights Alonnisos) from £957pp for Summer 2025 departures (Summer 2026 prices start from £1,066pp). Flights, transfers and accommodation all included. www.olympicholidays.com Fly into Kefalonia, ferry out to dreamy Ithaca Kefalonia’s wild beauty makes a dramatic first impression, its limestone cliffs tumble down to electric-blue bays like Myrtos Beach, while natural wonders such as Melissani Cave glimmer with underground lakes. After soaking up the island’s charisma and perhaps a night in lively Argostoli, hop on a ferry (about an hour) to neighbouring Ithaca. This mythical isle, said to be the home of Odysseus, is steeped in peace and simplicity. With olive groves, whitewashed villages, and gently lapping coves, it’s the sort of place where time slows down. While there are no direct UK flights to Ithaca, Kefalonia’s well-connected airport makes it a seamless fly-in point. The perfect blend of epic scenery and quiet soulfulness awaits. Prices: Olympic Holidays offer 6 nights (3 nights Kefalonia/3 nights Ithica) from £891pp for Summer 2025 departures. Flights, transfers and accommodation all included. www.olympicholidays.com Fly into Corfu, ferry to peaceful Paxos Start your Greek escape on the vibrant island of Corfu, where Venetian fortresses, pastel neoclassical mansions and a UNESCO-listed old town create a striking blend of history and charm. Then swap the bustle for bliss as you ferry south to Paxos, a pint-sized paradise known for its olive groves, aquamarine coves, and gentle pace of life. Gaios, the island’s sleepy capital, is fringed with harbourside tavernas and bobbing fishing boats, while nearby beaches like Kipiadi and Monodendri invite all-day lounging. This twin-centre itinerary is perfect for those wanting a mix of Corfu’s cosmopolitan flair and Paxos’ off-the-beaten-track tranquillity. Prices: Olympic Holidays offer 6 nights (3 nights Corfu/3 nights Paxos) from £885pp for Summer 2025 departures. Flights, transfers and accommodation all included. www.olympicholidays.com Fly into Kos, ferry to characterful Kalymnos Touch down in Kos, a sun-soaked island rich in ancient ruins and vibrant town life, before heading by ferry to nearby Kalymnos, a rugged, character-filled gem in the Dodecanese. Once famed for its sponge divers, Kalymnos now draws adventurers and romantics alike with its dramatic cliffs, quiet coves, and authentic Greek charm. Explore the colourful harbour town of Pothia, dine in family-run tavernas, or hike the hills for panoramic views over the Aegean. Whether you’re into climbing, culture, or pure coastal relaxation, pairing Kos with Kalymnos offers the ideal balance of buzz and serenity. Prices: Olympic Holidays offer 7 nights (3 nights Kos/4 nights Kalymnos) from £944pp for Summer 2025 departures (Summer 2026 prices start from £995pp). Award winning tour operator Olympic Holidays is renowned for its unrivalled insider knowledge and expert advice when it comes to booking a dream trip to the Greek Islands, Cyprus and beyond. For over half a century, its in-house team of travel specialists have been arranging holidays to Greece’s iconic archipelagos along with a selection of other handpicked destinations including the Canary Islands, mainland Spain & Majorca, Malta & Gozo, Portugal, Madeira, Croatia, Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, Gambia & Goa. One of the best ways to get a taste for some of the wonderfully varied and enticing islands in the portfolio is to plan a bespoke island-hopping trip. This is where a specialist such as Olympic Holidays really comes into their own and can advise on and create exclusive tailor made, hassle-free itineraries. New for 2025, the following additions to their collection promise to make waves with their enchanting blend of stunning natural beauty and authentic charm: Albania, Lesvos, Karpathos, Lefkara, Agia Galini, Evia, Hydra & Sifnos. Albania – Greece’s undiscovered neighbour has it all, from dreamy beaches to snowy peaks Quietly gaining in popularity with savvy travellers, Albania remains remarkably free from mass tourism despite its stunning scenery. Appealingly affordable for UK visitors, the country is hugely varied, with a coastline strung with turquoise bays while inland lie mountains topped by crumbling castles and evocative UNESCO-listed ancient ruins. Much like Greece, Albania boasts flavour-filled Mediterranean dishes including lots of fresh seafood washed down with excellent (and great value) local wines. Olympic Holidays offer 7 nights staying at Hotel Amelia Mare, Albania from £581pp staying in a Double Room Garden View on a B&B basis including flights from LHR. Price based on May 2025 departure. www.olympicholidays.com Lesvos – the Aegean’s unspoiled secret Greece’s third-largest island is one of its most varied, from its emerald mountains and steamy hot springs to its sweeping sandy beaches and perfectly-preserved ancient villages. The only thing missing? This magnificent island remains refreshingly off the tourist radar so you won’t find the usual crowds, even in summer. They are missing out, as Lesvos is a delight to explore. Hugging the Turkish coast, the island’s rich history has left its imprint, with must-sees such as the charming Ottoman town of Molyvos with its cobbled lanes winding up to a mighty fortress. If castles are your thing, there’s an even more impressive one at bustling Mytilene, an artistic hub lined with boutiques, restaurants and grand 18th century mansions. For ouzo fans, the town of Plomari is considered the home of Greece’s potent aniseed spirit – there is even a museum dedicated to the drink. Meanwhile, the far west of Lesvos is an otherworldly lunar landscape, where millennia-old lava flows have left behind a remarkable petrified forest. Finally, no visit would be complete without a visit to Skala Eresou, a laidback beach resort that’s the birth place of the island’s most famous resident, the ancient Greek poetess Sappho. Olympic Holidays offer 7 nights staying at Panorama Hotel, Lesvos from £475pp staying in a Standard Twin on a B&B basis including flights from Stansted. Price based on May 2025 departure. www.olympicholidays.com Karpathos – dramatic scenery with a traditional soul With its rugged mountains plunging down to azure coves, Karpathos has a wild, heart-stopping beauty that feels straight from the pages of an ancient Greek myth. In fact, legend has it that Prometheus and his Titans were born here – the island even appears in Homer’s ‘The Iliad’. Located midway between Crete and Rhodes, Karpathos is spectacular but far less-visited than its better-known neighbours. Visitors to this Dodecanese beauty are rewarded, however, not only by its dramatic scenery but also its proud Greek heritage and culture, with time-forgotten villages celebrating age-old customs and colourful festivals. Follow the hair-raising but scenic road to Olympos, a historic village where houses seem to teeter on a ridge. Head down to the coast and you’ll find a plethora of deserted bays, from award-winning Apella beach, framed by steep cliffs and considered one of the prettiest in the Med, to remote dune-backed Diakoftis and windsurfers’ paradise Makris Gialos. Olympic Holidays offer 7 nights staying at Konstantinos Palace, Karpathos from £1,026pp staying in a Standard Room on a Half Board basis including flights from LGW and transfers. Price based on May 2025 departure. www.olympicholidays.com Lefkara – an idyllic Cypriot village Cyprus has long been a holiday favourite for its gorgeous coastline – a never-ending stretch of powdery beaches and hidden coves washed by luminous seas. Turn inland, however, and you’ll find another, quieter side of the island that’s just as enchanting. Ancient olive groves and forested hills are dotted with sleepy settlements, churches and archaeological ruins. It’s here, in the majestic Troodos mountains, that you’ll find Lefkara, a magical village of traditional stone-built houses and slender streets. Famed for its tradition of ‘Lefkaritika’, an intricate lacework that is hand-crafted and passed down through generations, the village boasts many artisanal workshops and small museums. Wandering through the lanes is a wonderful way to experience local life, with authentic tavernas serving delicious Cypriot cuisine. Olympic Holidays offer 7 nights staying at Ionian Blue Hotel & Spa, Lefkada from £505pp staying in a Superior Twin Sea View on a B&B basis including flights from LGW. Price based on May 2025 departure. www.olympicholidays.com Agia Galini – Crete’s loveliest coastal hideaway Crete’s wild southern coast draws nature-lovers, hikers and solitude-seekers with its thyme-scented gorges, quiet coves and little fishing villages. Sloping down to a postcard-pretty harbour bobbing with colourful fishing boats, Agia Galini couldn’t be more idyllic. Overlooking the cobalt Libyan Sea, its white-washed pedestrianised streets are bright with bougainvillea and lined with traditional tavernas serving the freshest seafood. Sandy beaches invite swimming, snorkelling and watersports, while a short drive takes you to the extraordinary ruins of Phaistos, one of Crete’s most important archaeological sites. Keen hikers can explore the breathtaking Kourtaliotiko gorge with its hidden waterfall, as well as Preveli beach with its glorious palm grove. Olympic Holidays offer 7 nights staying at Paralos Irini Mare, Agia Galini from £691pp staying in a Superior Double Mountain View on a Half Board basis including flights from LGW. Price based on May 2025 departure. www.olympicholidays.com Evia – an under-the-radar delight Athenians like to keep this glorious island (Greece’s second-largest after Crete) to themselves, so you won’t find many tourists here. Connected to the mainland by a bridge, it’s less than two hours by car from Athens and often overlooked by visitors in a rush to reach better-known destinations. They are missing out, however, as Evia’s verdant landscapes boast everything from spectacular gorges to award-winning wineries. According to mythology, the island was split from the mainland by a blow from Poseidon’s trident, and there are plenty of archaeological sites to explore – such as ancient Eretria with its extraordinary House of Mosaics. For outdoorsy types there are canyoning adventures, hikes to waterfalls and natural thermal springs, while a visit to ruggedly beautiful Chiliadou Beach, an award-winning film location, is a must. Olympic Holidays offer 7 nights staying at Ionian Marmari Bay Hotel, Evia from £443pp staying in a Double Room Sea View on a B&B basis including flights from LGW. Price based on May 2025 departure. www.olympicholidays.com Hydra – an exquisite traffic-free speck An island of contrasts, Hydra’s picture-perfect harbour and cobbled old town have drawn A-listers, artists, musicians and actors since the 1950s. The rest of the island, however, remains rugged and rural, with mountainous footpaths leading to tiny hamlets and hilltop monasteries. All vehicles are banned on the island, even bicycles, giving Hydra a wonderfully tranquil atmosphere. During the summer months, there is a lively scene around the horseshoe-shaped harbour, with buzzing waterfront cafes providing excellent people-watching and chic boutiques lining the narrow lanes. It’s easy to find a quiet spot though, with plenty of gorgeous azure swimming coves reached by foot or sea-taxi from town. Olympic Holidays offer 7 nights staying at Ionian Hydrea Hotel, Hydra from £2,629pp staying in a Petite Suite with Sea View on a B&B basis including flights from LGW. Price based on May 2025 departure. www.olympicholidays.com Sifnos – the slow-paced Cycladic beauty with a thriving food scene A laidback island cloaked in olive groves and almond trees, Sifnos is known for its culinary heritage and excellent eateries – from rustic waterfront tavernas to sleek Greek fusion restaurants. You can walk off all those calories on the superb network of signposted walking trails, which take in sweeping scenery, age-old monasteries and butter-coloured bays. Three white-washed villages invite gentle pottering, with the capital, Apollonia, a delightful tangle of lanes studded with churches and cafes. -

Set your sights on idyllic, off-the-radar Milos – 2024’s hottest Greek island destination
Olympic Holidays has been arranging trips to the Greek Islands (not forgetting Cyprus, Canaries, Balearics, Malta, Goa and The Gambia) for over half a century, with unrivalled insider knowledge. So, it’s no surprise they have decided to add this rising star to their collection. Up until a few years ago, the Cycladic speck of Milos was a well-kept secret among Greek holidaymakers, with in-the-know Athenians quietly popping over for a dip in some the Aegean’s most stunningly azure coves. Its unique volcanic beauty however, means that the island is now also drawing discerning international visitors to its unspoiled shores. Five reasons to make Milos top of your must-visit list Its dramatic lunar-like landscapes are utterly unique… The island’s volcanic nature makes for awe-inspiring scenery. Think surreal rock formations in a rainbow of colours, a dazzling coastline carved with deep caves and vertiginous cliffs plunging to cyan coves. Awe-inspiring and otherworldly, Milos is unlike any other Greek island. It has arguably the best beaches in Greece (shhh)… Lapped by eye-wateringly blue seas, Milos boasts over 65 swoon-worthy beaches, over half of which can be reached only by boat (remaining blissfully crowd-free as a result). From the pretty main port of Adamas, tour boats can take you along the coast to explore some of the island’s loveliest bays. Don’t miss otherworldly Sarakiniko with its undulating snow-white sandstone cliffs and luminous waters, or picturesque Paleochori, gently heated by underground hot springs. It’s easy to reach, but far less visited than other Greek islands… Just 40 minutes by plane from Athens, or four hours by ferry, Milos is a doddle to reach. While increasing numbers of savvy visitors are drawn here by the island’s natural beauty and relaxed charm, it still has a sleepy, authentic feel. Don’t arrive expecting thumping nightlife – instead, enjoy fresh seafood at waterfront tavernas in Adamas and Pollonia, soak up the views from the whitewashed hilltop village of Plaka and marvel at photogenic Klima’s unique ‘syrmata’, brightly-painted fishermen’s dwellings carved into the rocks. It’s the birthplace of one of the world’s most famous artworks… Now displayed in all her splendour at the Louvre in Paris, the two-metre-tall marble statue of the Venus di Milo was unearthed on Milos in 1820 by a local farmer. You can see a plaster cast in Plaka’s handsome Archaeology Museum, along with other fascinating finds. You can visit Milos as part of an island-hopping adventure… Why settle for just one gorgeous Greek Island when you could play join-the-dots with two? Southeast of Milos, nearby Santorini is a glamourous contrast to laidback Milos, with its sugar cube houses cascading down steep hillsides, iconic blue-domed churches and slender lanes lined with boutiques, bars and restaurants. Visit both as part of an 11-night island-hopping trip offered by Olympic Holidays, from £1419 per person based on 2 people travelling. The package includes a one-night stay at the 4* Aria-Lito Mansion, Santorini, a five-night stay at the 3* Glaronisia Hotel, Milos and a four-night stay at the 3* Castro Hotel and Suites, Santorini. Olympic Holidays know the hottest spots and the dreamiest hotels - News & announcementsThere’s nothing like waving goodbye to gloomy British skies and stepping off a plane hours later to be greeted by warm sun on your face and sparkling azure seas. A dose of Vitamin D is just what the doctor ordered to banish winter blues, but how to choose where to go? Rather than scouring weather websites for the sunniest spots, let Olympic Holidays do the hard work for you. With over half a century of arranging carefully crafted trips and an in-house team of travel specialists, this award-winning company has an envious portfolio with a range of swoon-worthy destinations for year-round sunshine. Get ready to pack your sun cream… Best for blissful beaches plus outdoor activities galore… Tenerife or Lanzarote Cast adrift in the Atlantic, the sub-tropical Canary Islands feel like another world with their awe-inspiring volcanic scenery – yet lie just over four hours from the UK. Year-round temperatures hover in the 20s, making the islands heaven for fresh-air enthusiasts and beach-lovers alike. It’s the perfect winter getaway, but how to choose between the archipelago’s five islands? Each has its own distinct flavour, but our top picks are Tenerife and Lanzarote. If you like to mix beach time with thrilling hikes around Spain’s highest peak, the 3,700m high Mt Teide, set your sights on Tenerife. The biggest of the Canary Islands, it boasts a diverse landscape, from its 50+ golden beaches and charming colonial towns to the lunar landscape of El Teide National Park. Superb hotels abound, from swish luxury resorts to stylish self-catering apartments. Lanzarote, meanwhile, has a low-key allure with its pretty, white-washed houses basking beneath curving palm trees and an entrancing volcanic backdrop dotted with cacti. Along with gorgeous beaches (some with inky black volcanic sand) there’s a thriving arts scene, with galleries and sculptures scattered around the island, the legacy of local-born artist Cesar Manrique. From laidback family resorts to chic adults-only hotels, there are stylish accommodation options for everyone with the added bonus of staying on UK time! Lanzarote Winter 2023 – 3* Bed & Breakfast from £379pp Olympic Holidays is offering 7 nights at the 3* BLUE SEA COSTA TEGUISE GARDENS, Costa Teguise, Lanzarote from £399 per person based on 2 people travelling. If you’re after a small island packed with attractions, Malta is for you. It may be petite, but it packs a punch – from UNESCO-listed Valletta’s cathedral, palaces, and museums to the extraordinary prehistoric temples in the island’s southeast. The coast is pocketed with crystal-clear coves, perfect for a refreshing dip. Cyprus, the mythical home of Aphrodite, casts its own spell on visitors. It’s a rich blend of cultures and traditions, although most visitors come for the magnificent white-sand beaches. Delve inland, however, and there are sleepy stone villages, medieval castles and archaeological sites hidden among the olive groves Winter is a wonderful time for hiking, cycling and golf, with cloudless blue skies, perfect temperatures and a clutch of stellar hotels. A kaleidoscope of Indian and Portuguese culture, it’s a heady blend of vibrant markets, colourful fishing villages, crumbling forts, temples and churches. Whether you want to unwind completely, go exploring or throw yourself into water-sports such as parasailing and scuba-diving, it’s easy to find your perfect break. Don’t miss the mouth-watering cuisine, a blend of fresh seafood and delicate Indian spices. Olympic Holidays offers a range of delightful boltholes, from bijou family-run beach hotels to luxurious spa resorts set within lush tropical gardens. Prefer to try somewhere more off-the-beaten-track? The Gambia is a gorgeous, unspoiled slice of West Africa that has managed to stay quietly under the tourist radar. Blessed with talcum-soft bays such as Kololi Beach, it’s ideal for absorbing some winter rays, but there’s so much more on offer. Try a mini safari to see tropical birdlife and chattering monkeys, paddle a canoe along a tributary of the River Gambia, browse for batik art at bustling markets and sample just-caught seafood at one of the excellent local restaurants. Best of all, come home totally refreshed as The Gambia is in the same time zone as the UK, so you can wave jet-lag goodbye.
