Refunds for Royal Olympia Cruises
Refunds were promised for Olympia Voyager and Olympia Explorer ships that cancelled cruises, according to Sandy Kusumoto, director of the bureau of consumer complaints for the Federal Maritime Commission. “We don’t know how many people were involved, or when they will be reimbursed yet,” she told TravelMole.com. Last month, the two ships owned by Royal Olympia Cruises Ltd. Cancelled a Dec. 18 and a Dec. 22 sailing. In January, Royal Olympia Cruises announced the cancellations of both the Jan. 2, sailing of the Olympia Voyager from Fort Lauderdale to South American Destinations, and the Jan. 5/6 round trip of the Olympia Explorer from Los Angeles or San Francisco. Ms Kusomoto said it was still being determined what passengers had paid by credit or card or check, which will be critical in deciding how reimbursement is completed. She said some individuals paid by credit card might soon receive credits for portions of their payment for ocean transportation. “We have a lot of things to check out, but we’re doing it as soon as possible,” she said. In a news release, the FMC says it has “not yet been advised the extent to which other future scheduled voyages will take place.” In the meantime, Ms Kusomoto said agents and others seeking refunds can check the status at www.FMC.Gov.
