Lawsuit: Teen died because defibrillator on American Airlines flight not charged
American Airlines is facing a lawsuit for negligence in the death of a teen on a flight last year.
Kevin Greenidge died on a Miami bound flight from Honduras after going into cardiac arrest.
The onboard defibrillator could not be used as the power pack had not been charged, the suit claims.
The lawsuit filed in New York said cabin crew tried to shock Greenidge with the defibrillator but it did not work as the charge was empty.
The complaint also said crew were not properly trained in resuscitation.
Under federal law airlines are required to have medical equipment like defibrillators on each flight and flight attendants receive training to use all equipment.
American was the first US airline to put defibrillators on board.
