Air India boosts London flights
Air India is adding more London flights.
The flag carrier is launching four new services from London Gatwick to Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Kochi and Goa, switching them from Heathrow.
Each route will operate three times a week.
Each of the four new India flights will be on Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
Flights to Ahmedabad, Kochi and Amritsar have started with Goa flights launching today.
From London Heathrow, Air India has added five additional weekly frequencies.
Flights to Delhi increase from 14 to 17 times a week.
Mumbai flights are boosted from 12 to 14 times a week.
Air India also plans to upgrade the London Heathrow to Delhi and Mumbai routes with Boeing 777 aircraft, starting from May 2023.
This will enable First Class service to be reinstated.
Campbell Wilson, Air India CEO, said: “Our substantial investment will enable us to gain market share on key routes from the UK to India.”
“We are pleased to be launching India flights from London Gatwick as well as expanding our Heathrow operation.”
Air India also flies from Birmingham to Amritsar and Delhi three times a week.
In total, there are 49 flights a week between the UK and India.
