17 killed in Cuban plane crash
A small plane has crashed in central Cuba, with 17 passengers and crew on board, including five Britons, six Canadians and two Germans. It is thought there were no survivors.
The plane went down at about 2130 GMT last night near Santa Clara, some 270 kilometres (165 miles) east of the capital, Havana.
The aircraft, operated by Cuban airline Aerotaxi, was on a flight between the southern coastal town of Cienfuegos and the northern resort island of Cayo Coco.
The weather was reported to be fine, and the cause of the crash was not immediately known.
