2005 Israel Tourism Awards
Dr David Beirman, Director of the Isreal Tourism Office will host a dinner to present the 2005 Israel Tourism Awards for Australia. The awards will be presented as part of a combined Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce, Israel Trade Commission and Israel Tourism Office function to be held at Sydney’s Pier 1 Sebel Hotel on the evening of Thursday 17 November.
Dr Beirman said “the choice this year has been a particuarly challenging one as there have been many travel agencies, wholesalers other travel professionals who have demonstrated real commitment to promoting tourism to Israel during this year. I also acknowledge the consistent commitment of El Al Israel Airlines to tourism to Israel.”
During October this year there was a vast influx of visitors to Israel celebrating the Jewish High Holidays of Rosh Hashonah (New Year), Yom Kippur , Sukkot and Simchat Torah. Many Christians also came to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles and traditionally many thousands of Christians who come for the annual Feast celebrations march in solidarity with Israel through the streets of Jerusalem. This year 85 Australians and 50 New Zealanders participated.
