25 years on high
The company that has helped so many Australians and international visitors celebrate special occasions this year celebrated its own milestone. In May, Australia’s premier hot air ballooning company, Balloon Aloft, commemorated its 25th birthday.
What started as a humble home office operation in 1980, is now the largest and most successful ballooning organisation in Australia with international recognition. For founders Peter Vizzard and Judy Lynne, such success is attributed to their enthusiasm for the job and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
These days Balloon Aloft has a fleet of 15 passenger balloons, 15 commercially-licensed pilots and numerous ground staff. The company also holds a Civil Aviation Authority Air Operators Certificate with approval to operate all types of balloons in all states of Australia.
With four flight centres in Camden (Sydney), the Hunter Valley, Canberra and the Gold Coast as well as affiliated locations nationwide, Balloon Aloft offers flights on every day of the year (subject to weather conditions). A Balloon Aloft gift certificate is redeemable at over 11 locations throughout Australia.
Safety above all is the motto of the company. Flights will not be conducted if a gentle and safe flight cannot be assured. Modern technology provides real time access to meteorological reports and rain radar. GPS and mobile phones virtually eliminate the chance of the ground crew losing contact with the balloon.
