3i’s team to bid for Edinburgh Airport
Private equity firm 3i has put together a team to bid for Edinburgh airport.
The consortium, which includes Universities Superannuation Scheme and M&G, will join a number of other bidders interested ahead of an auction of the Scottish airport expected in January.
The airport, which is expected to sell for more than £500million, is currently owned by BAA.
BAA has been forced to sell Edinburgh airport by the Competition Commission after it ruled in 2009 that the company operated a virtual monopoly in Scotland and south east England.
It has already sold Gatwick and is appealing against the decision to force it to sell Stansted.
