A culinary trip to Kent at the National gallery
Oliver Peyton’s National Dining Rooms at the National Gallery in London is to showcase the best of regional British food with a ‘County of the Month’ menu offering diners a chance to experience the finest produce from all over the UK. An exotic new restaurant offering North African and Lebanese cuisine is opening in London in June. Kenza (10 Cutlers Garden Arcade, Devonshire Square, EC2M 4YP) will be a restaurant and lounge bar which combines the styles of the Maghreb and the Middle East and offer lunch, afternoon tea, cocktails and mezze.
The iconic Fortnum & Mason store at 181 Piccadilly, W1 celebrates its 300th anniversary this year with a £24 million refurbishment of the store and the opening of four restaurants in the coming months. The Fountain (opening August 6) will retain a brasserie feel while The Gallery (September 17) replaces the Patio restaurant with a menu featuring ingredients from the new Food Hall shelves. The brand new Parlour restaurant (August 20) will recreate a 1950s ice cream parlour and The St. James’s (October 20) will continue to be the store’s most traditional restaurant offering formal lunches and traditional afternoon teas. Diners on a diet can enjoy a new three course, 350 calorie menu for £22 at Michelin starred Indian restaurant Amaya (Halkin Arcade, Motcomb Street, SW1 8JT) offering salad with tandoori grouper and pomegranate (tel: 0870 780 8174). Gordon Ramsay’s Maze restaurant (10-13 Grosvenor Square W1K 6JP) now offers a four course Sunday roast tasting menu, including a main dish of Roast sirloin of beef with Yorkshire pudding followed by orange scented bread and butter pudding for £24.50 (Tel: 020 7107 0000).
